Boosting Healthy Growth and Development

With our mineral deficient, poison saturated soil producing less than ideal food, today’s child needs extra nutrition to thrive. While organic veggies, green smoothies, and liquid herbs are ideal, many children dislike them.

Vitamin and mineral supplements aren’t the answer either, due to poor absorption and other factors. My favorite nutritional boost – particularly for children – is in the form of mineral or tissue salts, also called Biochemic cell salts.

Mineral salts are inorganic elements that nourish at a cellular level

In 1873 a German Homeopathic Physician, Dr. Schuessler, identified 12 different mineral salts that are essential to good health. A deficiency in just one of these salts can throw your body out of balance, making you more susceptible to illness. In addition to preventing disease, the salts can also heal the body and insure proper growth and development in children.

What I really like about tissue salts is that they come in (casein and whey-free) lactose tablets. These easily dissolve in the mouth, so there is no struggle getting your child to take them. In fact, they taste so good that more than one child has eaten the entire bottle. Fortunately, they are completely safe.

Anyone can use the salts without fear of toxicity. This includes pregnant or nursing women, children, pets, the elderly, and those taking medications or using other natural therapies. The salts do not react with meds because they are supplying minerals on a cellular level.

Following is a summary of the different types of salts, available in health food stores and online:

CALCIUM (Calc phos, Calc fluor, Calc sulph) improves bone health, digestion and assimilation

IRON (Ferrum phos) for inflammation, iron deficiency, hemochromatosis (iron buildup in the blood)

POTASSIUM (Kali mur, Kali phos, Kali sulph) helps with depression, anxiety, nervousness, lung health, mucus problems, nerve health, and skin problems

MAGNESIUM (Mag phos) for all types of pain, muscle spasms/cramping, and heart health

SODIUM (Nat mur, Nat sulph, Nat phos) for digestion, water balance (edema or swelling), dry skin, and over-acid conditions

SILICA (Silicea) for bones, hair loss, skin and fingernail problems

DIRECTIONS: Cell salts can be taken internally or used externally in creams, baths, or sprays. The dosage for chronic symptoms is usually one tablet three times a day for 2-3 months. For acute symptoms, one tablet can be taken as often as every 15 minutes for one hour (or placed in a water bottle and sipped frequently), then one every 4 waking hours for 3 days. If symptoms persist, contact your health care practitioner.
