GMO Foods

Unless organic (ideally from local farmers or home-grown), all food has been heavily sprayed with pesticides that have not been proven safe. If this isn’t bad enough, we now have the following GM (genetically modified organism) foods and products disrupting our health.

If you want to be healthy and free from disease, removing GMOs from your diet is a good place to start. Packaged foods may have a non-GMO label, but produce is more difficult to predict.

The following foods and products are currently genetically modified, with more in the works:

  • Alfalfa (in animal feed)
  • Canola (Canola oil is in most packaged foods, including chips)
  • Corn (in almost all packaged foods and drinks in the form of high fructose and regular corn syrup, cornstarch, corn chips, etc. Is also found in animal feed)
  • Cotton
  • Papaya
  • Soy (tofu, soy sauce, edame, etc. Soybean oil is frequently in packaged foods)
  • Sugar beet
  • Yellow summer squash
  • Zucchini
  • Animal products – (GMOs in animal feed) – includes meat, fish (currently, just salmon), poultry and eggs, dairy, honey and bee products
  • Microbes – includes yeasts such as Aspergillus niger and bacteria such as Lactobacillus acidophilus.
  • Enzymes – chymosin, catalase and amylase
